I now offer computer-matched VintageSchwinn.com primers as well to achieve the perfect finish as originally intended by Schwinn! My primer was exactly matched in color as well as composition to an original NOS can of “Schwinn Primer.” My primer has a mild “hi fill” quality which helps fill very minor imperfections and scratches before applying for paint colors.

I recommend 1 to 2 cans of primer, 2 cans of your main color and 1 can of your accent color for a complete bike. As an example, a Black and True Ivory paint scheme would require 2 cans of Black, 1 can of True Ivory, on top of 1 to 2 cans of primer.
